The Moon is Not in the Seventh House

Jupiter is no where near aligned with Mars.

Peace does not guide the planets, and love ain’t steering the stars.

I haven’t written a post in quite awhile and I feel bad about that. But I’ve been going through some things and quite frankly not vibrating on any frequency worth noting.

Shitty things are happening all around. Stress is the reigning deity. It feels like a full moon, Mercury retrograde and maybe a little curse or two all at the same time.

No need to get into details except to say that I am not feeling the magical powers of the Universe lately. Unicorns and rainbows are not shooting out of my ass. For a change.

Why?

It’s high season in the tourism business in Morocco for one thing.

Not only is that just a stressful time for all involved but it also means that you can’t get a taxi in Marrakech to save your life.

That alone is enough to make you want to pack your bags and fly away. Believe me when you take a taxi 4 or 6 times a day because people are waiting for you and you are focused on work, it is a block to the mojo that can really make your blood boil.

So instead of not posting at all, or raging about the taxi system or trying to get anyone on earth to feel bad for a privileged white woman living a pretty amazing life in North Africa, I thought I would just pop my head up and share a few random thoughts about life these last few days.

Whether you see this photo as a black hole in space or a burning ring of fire, you are correct. Doesn’t matter. (See what I did there? No matter…??)

It is, in fact, a photo of the family court system in Alberta, Canada.

Don’t.Even.Go.There.

I was trying to hail a taxi today (gah!) but got distracted by also trying to book hotel rooms from my phone and suddenly realized that I was standing in the middle of a very busy intersection, in the road, completely distracted by Booking.com, and when I looked up, a husky trotted by.

Seen here (above) he was captured and leashed by what I presume is his owner. You may not find that odd but there are very few dogs in Marrakech and even less huskies.

In a bit of desperation for food items, I left my apartment on Easter Sunday to go to my very local “7-11” to buy an avocado.

When I entered the store, I happened upon an American school teacher who was sharing a song on her iPhone with the person in the shop. I don’t know why. I didn’t know the song. I came in late. I really just wanted an avocado. That’s it.

She was having a really great time with this person and enjoying the song sharing. She turned to me and said, “you never know what’s going to happen at any time in Morocco.” She made this statement to sum up what had already happened.

THEN, from absolutely nowhere, this young shopkeeper said “I am a rapper. I rap in Arabic and Berber”, and he pulled out his iPhone with his own rap video on YouTube, brandished a full on microphone and sang along with himself.

So in case you haven’t picked up the theme from other blog posts here, when you are in Morocco you should always expect the unexpected. Always.

I don’t know where I got this photo from but I will be happy when Ramadan comes along, and things calm down. We change the clocks back an hour on May 5 which will throw everyone into complete mayhem, again, and add yet another hour of daylight thus making Marrakech feel more like Edmonton with the sun setting around midnight and all the people hangry.

Anyway. That’s it. I really don’t have much to complain about but I’d be happy if shitty things stopped happening, good things started happening and everyone would just pop a Xanax and calm down.
